| The Vampire: The Origins of vampires are unknown. The first known vampire is said to have appeared post-Christ.. which means none are older than 2,000 years.
*Abilities* - Speed: Most vampires are capable of great speed, with elders capable of moving at nearly a blur. However, the human eye is still able to follow most movements. - Strength: I have witnessed vampires easily tear a human to pieces with their hands. However, even the eldest of vampires seem to have the strength of no more than ten men. - Senses: Hearing, Sight, Feeling, and Sense of Smell are enhanced greatly beyond human limits. - It is believed that vampires share a sort of telepathic/empathic link between themselves and fledglings. This may allow the vampire 'sire' to see what their fledgling sees. - Regeneration and healing: vampires possess vast, rapid healing abilities. In short, they are dependent on age, energy, and blood level as well as degree of injury. - Transformation into a Mist-substance: A somewhat disputed gift that some elder vampires seem capable of . This would enhance their stealth abilities, as well as offer them a sort of flight. * Vulnerabilities and Methods of Death - Silver is like poison to the vampire. It is deadly if it comes into contact with the heart or brain, though it will burn if it touches a vampire anywhere; inside or out. -Sunlight: Sensitivity to sunlight varies according to age, but overexposure for even the oldest Vampire will kill. A new vampire is the most vulnerable to this, and likely to go up in flames with any exposure. - Fire like sunlight, is a major vulnerability. A vampire can be expected survive comparatively as long as a human might. - Crucifixes and Holy Items: Will scald the flesh of a vampire... though some have said a vampire who who has forsaken it's inner darkness in favor of good may not be burned by a symbol of Christ. As of now that is only speculation, frowned upon by the elder Gatekeepers. - Death: Silver to the head or heart. Decapitation, severe dismemberment, overexposure to sunlight, and intense flame are the most popular ways to dispatch the vampire. The Werewolf: The Origins of the werewolf are widely disputed. Some believe Lycanthropy, as it is popularly referred to, is the result of a curse, rather than a demonic hybrid, but such claims have very little backing, as the werewolf seems to share similar attributes to the vampire, which leads others to believe they are an offshoot of the vampire race. * Abilities - The abilities of the werewolf can be expected to wax and wane in with the lunar cycle. - Speed: Werewolves, even in their human form have shown to be faster and have much greater reflexes than the average human. This increases to closely mirror the vampire's speed when the wolf manifests with the moon. - Strength: Werewolves have nearly double the strength of the average man while in human form, and again seem to mirror the vampire when in their wolf form. - Senses: All five of the werewolf's senses are incredibly enhanced. Unlike the vampire, they can metabolize and survive from normal foods. They do not drink blood. However when the wolf is upon them, they crave only flesh. - Healing: Werewolves have an enhanced healing ability, with small cuts healing in only a couple hours, and broken bones in only a few days. They do not regenerate lost limbs. Healing is dependent on how long the person has been a werewolf, and the significance of their injuries. The more injured they are, the longer all injuries take to heal. - Non-lunar transformation: Some believe that the wolf can be brought forth outside of the three days where the moon typically holds sway over them. If this were possible, or if it were possible to stop the change during those three days, it would take an incredible act of will power and clarity of mind to do so. An act that werewolves with their beastly nature, have never been credited for. * Vulnerabilities and Methods of Death - Silver is like poison to the werewolf. It is deadly if it comes into contact with their heart or brain, though it will burn if it touches a them anywhere; inside or out. - Fire can be a major vulnerability to the werewolf. Fully engulfed they have shown to last double the time of a human or vampire. This can be attributed to the added levels of adrenaline. - Death: Extreme trauma to the core body, decapitation, the prolonged exposure to silver in the blood stream or silver in the head or heart will most assuredly kill a werewolf. The Demon: There is very little knowledge, if any, about demons that applies all breeds and variety of demonic creatures. They are an enigma, spanning back through time. Most widely accepted is that elder demons are fallen angels, however in some cases this has been proven otherwise...
Sorcery: Sorcery is our greatest weapon to combat the darkness. It affords us the best protection from demonic attack. Man has studied the craft for centuries, and his mastery over it has grown. It should be noted that the powers derived from channeling magic can come from different sources. While traditional sorcery takes hold of the magics of hell, and uses it for ones own purposes, be they nefarious or divine, others have shown a proclivity to what would be called 'earth magic'. These people have a natural ability to channel magics that allow them a measure of control over nature. Examples of this include rapid plant growth, even plants not native to the area, weather control, formation of water from ground springs, etc. A note on Crucifixes and Holy Items: - These things will burn all creatures of evil. A demon's flesh will burn straight off. A vampire's will be scalded. Werewolves may experience an effect similar to Vampires, but this may also be dependant on the nature of the individual. | |||||
